Hey! Today I am taking a brief look back at my first week of getting into a new fitness routine. I have admittedly been taking it very slow as not to crash and burn like so many other diets I have tried and failed. I promised myself I would do three, fifteen minute workouts on the treadmill. That was it. Guess what? I did it! I know, I know… small feat for man-kind but a big feat for ME!
My first walk on the treadmill was rough and I didn’t want to do it. I listened to a Chalene Johnson podcast to get through it. I got through it and that was it. The next day, I felt great. It’s true that exercise gives you energy and boy was I feeling it the next day. Amazing how one 15 minute walk can change things huh?
My second treadmill walk was better. I stayed on for an added minute and pushed myself with an incline. My heart was beating like a big bass drum. (Let me know if you get where that comes from) I was drenched in sweat but was tired quickly. I listened to another podcast. I felt good considering the dehydration and not really getting any good sleep the night before due to a fussy baby.
My third workout was on Sunday. I meant for it to be on Saturday but hubby was home and my brother and sister in-law were in labor at the hospital with their first baby. We were hanging on the edge of our seats waiting for news of their little girl’s arrival, so Sunday it was (for the workout). I was feeling stressed and so tired from a fussy baby all week. Yes, he woke up 3-4 times a night for 3-4 nights in a row which, ok, isn’t all week but felt like it! I played music this time and actually jogged/ran for a minute or two mixed in with the walking. I let the incline down for this one and just went for it. The music really helped me stay at a higher pace and I went for 20 minutes this time. I actually did a mile. It’s been a while since I did a whole mile, so I was happy with myself.
In conclusion, I have an end goal of not only losing weight but also of being able to run 3 miles without stopping. It might take a year or more to get to that goal but I want it so bad. I’ll get there.
Today, the start of week two, I am promising three treadmill workouts of 15 minutes minimum. On top of the treadmill workouts I have started tracking my food on MyFitnessPal. I am on the lose 1 lb. a week plan. I was originally going to do the 1/2 pound a week but I changed my mind. I guess I am wanting the challenge of the 1 lb a week now.
I’ll be back with more posts on my progress and eventually I might have the courage to start posting up my weight. I think I might start to post it when I start to see it coming down. I love blogs where the writers are honest and raw. I aim to be that way, I’m just going to have to
grow some bigger cojones prepare myself for the reveal. 🙂
Well, I’m off to create some things, take care of a little boy and wash my makeup brushes. My new niece is beautiful by the way. We’re all smitten by the new little lady in our life. God bless!
